The short version: we can't see your notes, and we don't keep anything. Here's the long version, still in plain words.
Notes, photos and files travel directly between your two devices over an encrypted connection, the same technology video calls use. They are never uploaded to, stored on, or readable by any Notegirl server. There is no account, no inbox and no history.
Everything you send exists only on the two screens. Close the tab and it's gone. The person you sent it to can save it to their own device, the same as if you'd handed them a printed photo, and that copy is theirs.
To connect, each device announces its temporary three-word code to an introduction service run by Notegirl itself, on the same hosting as this page. That service passes along connection details so the two devices can reach each other, then steps out of the way. It never receives your notes or files. The code stops working the moment you close the tab.
A few networks, such as some office or mobile networks, stop devices from talking directly. When that happens, an encrypted relay run by our hosting provider, Cloudflare, forwards the scrambled data between the two devices. The relay cannot read what it carries and does not store it.
We do not use tracking cookies, do not build profiles, and do not sell or share personal data with anyone.
Notegirl is free, and a single ad at the bottom of each page helps keep it that way. The ads come from Google AdSense, which may use cookies to show ads relevant to you under Google's advertising policy. Where the law requires it, you are asked for consent before any of that happens, and you can say no. No ad ever appears while two devices are connected, and the ad system never sees your notes or files.
Notegirl is a general-audience tool and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
If this policy changes, the date below changes with it.
